The UFOCopter

Anti Grav prototype

This was a simple experiment to find out whether we could levitate a UFO shaped craft with a simple motor. I know this is nothing new and there are plenty of kid’s toys that demonstrate this.

However, the question is how much power would be required to lift a craft like this to get an altitude record, and then try the same with solar power? Could it be done? It would probably have a very wasteful electricity to power ratio

The following experiment shows a frisbee with an electric motor attached. Two slots were made in the frisbee to allow air to feed the motor. Not sure whether this needs to be wider or a different shape

Results

For the first try we used a 9 Volt Battery. It just wasn’t powerful enough

For the second try it was rigged up to an old 4amp charger that was found in the shed.

This time it did produce noticable lift but the feeble 14,000 rpm motor was smoking a bit and the wires were melting.

I think new equipment is definitely needed. A high powered electric motor, lithium Ion battery and ultralight propellor and body being the minimum for the next try.
